of Saint Anthony's Hospice Program |
With the retirement of long-time area physician Larry Burch, M.D., Raj Patel, M.D., an Internal Medicine physician on the Medical Staff of Saint Anthony's Health Center, was appointed as Medical Director ofSaint Anthony’s Hospice program.
“We are thankful to Dr. Burch for his support and leadership and look forward to working with Dr. Patel as we continue our Hospice mission,” says Brenda Wyman, RN, Hospice Supervisor.
As Medical Director, Dr. Patel will be participating in the interdisciplinary team meetings and providing oversight of the hospice direct care activities. In addition, he will participate in the development and review of clinical protocols and processes that support appropriate care and referral to Saint Anthony’s Hospice program. Dr. Patel will also provide outreach to community agencies and health care settings, such as nursing homes to educate the public regarding hospice and palliative care.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Patel joined the Medical Staff of Saint Anthony’s in 1992. He is in private practice, with an office at 404 West Bethalto Drive in Bethalto.
