Women's Pavilion: Delivering Family Centered Care

Loading...

Saint Anthony's Women Pavilion is continuing to provide a safe, comfortable, state-of-the-art environment for area women to bring new life into the world. From conception to birth, the Women’s Pavilion offers new moms all the comforts that are needed to make pregnancy and birth as stress free as possible.

“The most important concept at the Women’s Pavilion is providing home-like family centered care,” says Julie Ashlock, OB Manager. “Our mothers stay in LDRP, which means: Labor, Deliver, Recover, Post-Partum. We take care of our new mothers as they go through labor, during the delivery, while they recover and during the post-partum in the birthing suite. All of this is offered in the comfort of just one room, without having to go to room to room for each step of your experience.”

OBStarting with a healthy beginning, special prenatal programs for women who plan to deliver their babies at the Women’s Pavilion are available. In the Healthy Beginnings program, expectant moms receive a prenatal notebook containing valuable health information for the mom and baby, an initial phone contact by an OB Registered Nurse and a 24-hour baby help line to answer any and every question for the expectant mother.

The Women’s Pavilion also offers a home visit to first time mothers, living within 25 mile radius of Saint Anthony’s Hospital or per special request from the physician. While in the Women’s Pavilion, mothers and their families are surrounded by a comfortable atmosphere and experienced staff. Birthing suites, traditional rooms, and natural child birth are some of the options available. If a C-section is necessary, there is a special room on the same floor with experienced staff.  Many of the rooms feature a television, recliners, bassinets and a relaxing Jacuzzi bath.

“We like to do something special for the new moms,” said Ashlock. “In 2007, we added a special feature, where on the last night of their stay we provide a candle-lit, special dinner for two in their rooms. We can take the baby to the nursery if the mother chooses. It’s a chance for the parents to relax before heading home.”

The over-all experience of the Women’s Pavilion shows in the high patient satisfaction scores and the continued success of the Women’s Pavilion. In 2007, almost 600 babies were born. As the popularity of the Women’s Pavilion continues to thrive, Ashlock is confident that she and her staff will continue to provide excellent patient care.

“I think that people in the area want to stay close to home,” said Ashlock. “We provide a more home-like setting with privacy along with the most qualified physicians and experienced staff. Over 50 percent of the nursing staff has over 10 years of OB experience.”

The Women’s Pavilion offers a number of Prenatal Education opportunities in 2008.

• Childbirth Fast Track – one day
