As part of its commitment to providing advanced health care to the community, Saint Anthony’s Health Center has incorporated one of the most advanced diagnostic tools for helping physicians reach confident diagnoses while providing the best patient care. The new Signa HDxt MR system from GE Healthcare delivers highly detailed images of the human body with increased speed, better resolution and unique applications.
This advanced MRI technology provides shorter exams and great comfort for patients, while providing higher diagnostic confidence for doctors, according to Sonja Cranmer, Radiology Quality Assurance Coordinator.
“Some individuals have special needs when undergoing MRI testing, like claustrophobia and anxiety,” said Sonja. “With the new technology, we can easily obtain images and diagnose, while providing a better experience for the patient.”
“One feature of the Signa HDxt MR system is the ability to do dual breast scanning,” adds Sonja. “In the time it normally takes to image just one breast, we can now image both breasts simultaneously, and provide MRI breast biopsy. The system also tolerates patient motion very well during brain scans, which reduces retakes.”
“The addition of Signa HDxt MR system complements and extends the range of quality diagnostic services that Saint Anthony’s offers residents of the community,” said Sonja. “It provides us with vastly improved image quality and imaging speed, and enhances the overall diagnostic confidence we have in all our studies.”
MRI exams are used when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical problem that is not easily detectable from a conventional physical examination. The GE Signa HDxt MR system non-invasively assists physicians in a variety of anatomical areas, such as the head, abdomen and chest, and including imaging of the vascular system and major organs.
As a full service acute care health system, Saint Anthony's Health Center offers a variety of medical imaging services. Used to determine the location and specific type of different diseases, medical imaging services are also utilized in Saint Anthony’s Pain Management Center. The experienced technologists working in the imaging areas at Saint Anthony’s are dedicated to giving exceptional patient care every day, working closely with a team of board certified radiologists. Saint Anthony’s Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging Services has earned accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR) for MRI, CT and Mammography technology.
