Fast action and excellent physician care are key elements to any Emergency Department. Looking forward to 2008, Saint Anthony's Health Center Emergency Department has added two major components to provide quality emergency care.
The first is the partnership with the Legatus Physician Group and Saint Anthony's Health Center. Headed by Dr. Timothy Thompson, the Legatus group provides experienced physicians for the Emergency Department. The Legatus group and Saint Anthony's Health Center have the same working philosophy when it comes to effectively running an Emergency Department.
“After getting the minimal patient information, when possible, patients are taken straight to a room,” said Patti Fisher, Vice President of Professional Services. “By taking the patients directly back to a room, patients will spend less time waiting and their care begins much sooner. We are also focusing on cardiac care, working closely with the cardiac cath lab to begin treatment of heart attack patients as quickly as possible.”
The second addition the Emergency Department is the new Director of Emergency Services, Karen Marzluf. Karen joins Saint Anthony's Health Center with a strong background with years of experience.
Her most recent experience was Assistant Nurse Manager at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. She was responsible for overall operations of Medical Oncology where she managed a staff of 120 employees. Marzluf also was the Nursing Manager/EMS Coordinator at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Marzluf is pleased to be at Saint Anthony's Emergency Department and is ready to take on her role as Director.
“The goal for 2008 is growth,” said Marzluf. “We will grow in size, patients and most importantly, we will grow in patient satisfaction. I am excited about working with Dr. Thompson and the new physician group. We both are highly involved in patient care and patient satisfaction. The goal is to embrace the Mission of Saint Anthony's Health Center and have it visibly show in our actions.”
Saint Anthony's Health Center Emergency Department also continues to be recognized as an Emergency Facility Approved for Pediatrics by Illinois Emergency Services for Children and the Illinois Department of Health. The recognition reflects Saint Anthony’s commitment to providing the best possible care for our pediatric emergency patients.
