Screenings for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- Difficulty sustaining attention
- Difficulty organizing activities
- Problems listening
- Avoiding tasks that require sustained mental effort
- Often being "on the go" or seeming to be "driven by a motor"
Studies indicate that five percent of school-age children have ADHD, and 40 percent of all children experiencing problems are likely to have some form of attention deficit. Detecting ADHD early is crucial. If addressed properly, there is a good opportunity to avoid major conflicts at home and school. Self-esteem problems can also be avoided if ADHD is addressed by pre-school age.
Let the health care professionals of Saint Anthony's Health Center help your child. Referrals to a primary physician or psychiatrist may be recommended as a result of the screening.
