After two years of retirement from medical practice, long-time area physician, Lawrence G Burch, M.D., has been named as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Saint Anthony’s Health Center.
In his new administrative role, he will provide physician leadership, working closely with the 200+ members of Saint Anthony’s Medical Staff.
“We are truly grateful that Dr. Burch is joining our Health Center team. He certainly knows our physicians and the environment after serving as a primary care physician to thousands for 30 years,” said E.J. Kuiper, President & CEO of Saint Anthony’s. “Having physicians involved at the leadership level speaks volumes about our commitment to and respect for the physicians on the Saint Anthony’s Medical Staff.”
Dr. Burch retired on 7/7/2007, exactly three decades after he established his internal medicine practice. “I am looking forward to my new role and working with the Medical Staff, Sisters and Mission Partners at Saint Anthony’s,” Dr. Burch said.
A founding physician of Alton Internists Associates -- what is now the ComPAS multispecialty medical group – Dr. Burch went to medical school at Saint Louis University and later served his internship and residency at St. Mary’s Health Center in Clayton. Prior to becoming a physician, he earned a bachelor’s and doctoral degree in chemical physics and worked with the NASA/Apollo program.
