Breast Nurse Navigator
Saint Anthony’s Cancer Center of Excellence is committed to providing breast care to women by providing the services of a Breast Nurse Navigator. By working closely with the various clinical departments, the nurse navigator will focus on shortening the timeline from detection to diagnosis and can connect patients to the medical care needed in a timely manner.
Once detection has been noted from mammograms, the nurse navigator is available to work with the ordering physician to help guide the patient through the system -- scheduling further tests, appointments with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists or surgeons, as well as providing education, resources and emotional support -- but only after the physician and patient have discussed the diagnosis and options.
